Russia has increased its shelling and aggression in its bid to capture Ukraine or moreover fully 'demilitarise' it.  On the other hand, the western countries have united with Ukraine and imposed a series of sanctions onto the aggressor Russia to cripple its economy until it declares a ceasefire and calls back its army. Meanwhile, the European Parliament accepted Ukraine's application to join the European Union on Tuesday. A special admission procedure has begun to admit Ukraine to the EU and the voting for the same will be taking place.

Russia-Ukraine war

Coming back to the Russia-Ukraine war, Moscow amassed over 150,000 troops on Ukraine's borders in a bid to pressurise Western nations to not allow Ukraine to join NATO.  However, Russian President Vladimir Putin's patience broke down when on February 4 he announced a special military operation upon Ukraine. On the pretext of 'Special Military Operation' and with an aim to 'dimilatrise' Ukraine, Putin ordered its armed forces to carry out a full-fledged invasion. Citing his reason as Kyiv's failure to establish 'talks' with Moscow, Putin directed the Russian Army to launch heavy missile strikes and explosions across the country. Ukraine has refused to surrender and continues to hold up resistance.
