Russia-Ukraine: Enerhodar city under threat as Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant can cause 10 times bigger than Chernobyl

Russia Ukraine News: The Russian army has attacked the city of Enerhodar in Ukraine. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar was also hit by Russian missiles and a huge plume of smoke was seen rising here. The Zaporizhzhia Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. 

Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Minister Dmitry Kuleba says that Russian forces are firing from all sides on Zaporizhzhia, Europe's largest nuclear power plant. The plant has already caught fire and if it exploded, it would be 10 times bigger than Chernobyl. After this attack, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke to US President Joe Biden and explained the situation. 

Biden has appealed to Russia to help protect the nuclear power plant and extinguish the fire there. "President Joe Biden, along with President Zelensky of Ukraine, called for an immediate halt to military activities in the Russian-affected region and to allow emergency rescue teams to move there," the White House said in a statement.

Biden also spoke to the US Department of Energy's Under Secretary of Nuclear Security and administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration to inquire about the status of the plant. Meanwhile, an advisor to Zelensky's head of office tweeted a video of the attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.


The International Atomic Energy Agency also swung into action and made full preparations to deal with any situation. 

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also spoke to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said President Putin's reckless actions could now directly threaten the security of the whole of Europe. 

He said Britain would do everything possible to ensure that the situation did not worsen. The prime minister said he would call for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and that Britain would immediately take up the issue with Russia and close allies.
