New Delhi: The Supreme Court has decided to begin the hearing of Sabarimala case from next week. The Top Court said that a batch of around 48 rewiew petitions challenging the top court's September verdict of allowing women of reproductive age into the Sabarimala temple, will be considered. A five judge constitution bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will start hearing the case from 6th February onwards.
The Kerala government had told the Supreme Court that as many as 51 women of menstrual age have managed to enter the temple. However the devotees and activists refuse to agree with the figure.
Some woman who eventually managed to enter the temple have faced severe backlash and are being threatened as well.
