An indefinite protest by the Bhartiya Kisan UnionEkta Ugrahan has been launched in the Sangrur district. The protesters have gathered outside the residence of Chef Minister Bhagwant Mann to meet their unfulfilled demands. While addressing the dharna going on, the state President Joginder Ugrahan said that there are many demands which need to resolve by the government. He further added that certain demands also need written assurance by the government so that they have something to hold onto.

The police force has been deployed by administration and barricades of 8 feet in height have also been placed outside the residence to avoid any kind of ruckus. The residents living nearby have to go through the second gate of the colony as the first one has completely been closed.

The head of the union stated that the center has till now not fulfilled the demands that were promised to them. While telling their problems, the protestors said fake insecticides and the uncertain weather conditions have badly affected their crops but still no compensation has been provided to them. The unions have said that if their demands are not heard by the government then an all-day-night protest will be initiated by them.

It feels like this time nothing will stop the farmers this time. On Monday night, heavy rainfall was experienced in Sangrur village and a lot of stuff required during the protest also got damaged. But, this did not stop them from staging protests. They have said that be it whether or any other thing, nothing will stop them from getting the demands fulfilled.

Here is the list of demands that the unions are protesting for. They want the government to hear them out and find a solution to their problems. The demands are firstly farmers should get compensation for their destroyed crops. Further, they want the water policy of handing over groundwater and river water to corporate houses should be canceled. Also, they have requested the government to repeal the law taking away the right to level the land. Another demand raised by them is that cases registered against farmer laborers should be canceled.

The Presidents of the Union have made their intentions very clear. They have said that if the demands are met, it is well and good but if not then full-day protests outside CM Mann’s resident will be carried out.
