Sarabjit Singh’s killer Amir Sarfaraz shot dead by ‘unknown’ assailants in Lahore

Underworld don Amir Sarfaraz, who killed Indian citizen Sarabjit Singh, has reportedly been shot dead by unknown assailants in Lahore. According to media reports, the incident was carried out when he was travelling in his car. Sarfaraz had murdered Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore with a sharp weapon.

 

Sarabjit Singh was murdured on 2 May 2013. In the year 1991, the Pakistani court had sentenced Singh on charges of four bomb blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad which killed nearly 10 people. In March 2006, the Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected Sarabjit's petition for alleviating the death sentence. Following this, Sarabjit was attacked by some prisoners in Lahore's Central Jail and he died in the hospital five days later.

 

Who was Sarabjit Singh?

Sarabjit Singh was a resident of Bhikhiwind village of Tarn Taran district situated on the India-Pakistan border. He was a farmer. On August 30, 1990, he unknowingly reached the Pakistani border, from where he was arrested by the Pakistani Army. At that time Sarabjit had argued that he had crossed the border and reached Pakistan by mistake.
