Supreme-Court Farmers-Protest Republic-Day

As the Supreme Court had put a stay on the implementation of contentious farm laws, the Delhi police had filed a plea seeking a ban on Republic day Tractor rally by farmers. After the apex court formed a committee, it is expected to submit its report in two months.

Although, the situation remains tense because farmers' leaders and unions don't wish to be a part of committee. The farmers allege that the members of the committee have already taken stance that is in favor of the farm laws.

In the wake of farmers rejection of the committee set by the SC, one of the members of the committee, Bhupinder Singh Mann opted out of it. Mann said, "I am recusing myself from the committee and I will always stand with my farmers and Punjab."

Now the SC is going to hear a plea filed by the Delhi police asking to stay the farmers' 'Tractor Rally' on Republic day that falls on January 26.

What the farmers are saying?

The farmer leaders are eager to carry out their Tractor rally on January 26. For the purpose of this parade, many farmers are coming from various parts of India. They set off to Delhi on their tractors since January 20 as they said they didn't want rush on the roads.

Moreover, as per the report published in The Telegraph, one of the leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Rakesh Tikait said, they are of the view that they are ready to protest till 2024.

Notices by NIA

As the National Investigation Agency had sent notices to farmers' leaders and Khalsa aid, it has been termed as a method or tool to dismantle the protests by the government. However, farmers say they will continue protesting till the laws are not repealed.
