NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who toppled the Devendra Fadnavis government in 4 days, has said he was always with NCP and is still with the party and they will decide on his future role.

Talking to reporters after taking oath as an MLA in the Maharashtra assembly on Wednesday, Ajit Pawar said, "I have already said that I was with NCP and I am with NCP. Have they expelled me? Have you heard or read this anywhere? I am still with NCP."

He added, "Party will decide on my role. I changed my decision after the Supreme Court order and after I spoke to my party colleagues."

NCP leader Nawab Malik on Wednesday said that Ajit Pawar has met party chief Sharad Pawar and admitted his mistake.

"Ajit Pawar ji met with Sharad Pawar ji. He apologised and said he made mistake. His role in government will be decided very soon," said Malik.

On the other hand, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said in an interview with India Today TV that Ajit Pawar will play a significant part in the coalition government of NCP-Shiv Sena-Congress. He said, "Definitely he will play a big role in the government, look at the big things he made possible."

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ordered an immediate floor test in Maharashtra assembly for Devendra Fadnavis to prove his majority in the House. Hours later, Ajit Pawar stepped down as the Deputy Chief Minister, bringing down the BJP government that was hastily formed with the supposed support of NCP.

Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule on Wednesday received Ajit Pawar at the Maharashtra assembly with a warm hug and smile, hinting at an amicable solution to the rift in the party.
