After seeking blessings at Golden Temple, Punjabi Kisan set off for Delhi ahead of protests

The Farmers’ union will reportedly have talks with three central ministers in Chandigarh the outcome of which will decide the extents of the Delhi protest

The Kisan Union is moving to Delhi for the purposes of protesting for their demands and a set off on their journey for Delhi. The journey was inaugurated by holy Ardaas at  Shri Akal Takht Sahib in  Golden Temple, Amritsar.  Following this the farmers’ organization could be seen gathering at the river Beas

 

 It is pertinent to note that today the union will have a meeting with three ministers of the central government, Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda, and Nityanand Rai in Chandigarh. The union says that the if their demands are met during the chandigarh meeting then they will broach the issue of Delhi. However, if the meeting turns out to be fruitless, the union will start an agitation in Delhi tomorrow.

 

The Delhi and Chandigarh police has imposed section 144 for a period of 60 days in light of the farmers’ protest. Besides a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP), the farmers are also demanding the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pensions for farmers and farm labourers, farm debt waiver, withdrawal of police cases, and "justice" for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
