Serum Institute doing best to ramp up Covid vaccine production, says Adar Poonawalla

Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India are the major vaccine manufacturers in India. Both have delivered the number of vaccines to several states.

India is facing a severe shortage of vaccines in the country, and earlier on Sunday Adar Poonawalla said that the Serum Insitute is ready to increase vaccine production. 

Responding to the tweet by JSW Chairman Sajjan Jindal, Adar Poonawalla, head of Serum Institute of India said that SII is trying its best to increase vaccine production to fulfill the demand in the market. All possible efforts have been made by the manufacturer company to expedite the production. 

Adar Poonawalla’s tweet read, “Yes Sajjan Jindal, we at Serum Institute of India are doing our best to ramp up production and launch new vaccines on priority for India. We are grateful for The JSW Group's efforts in trying to fulfill India’s medical oxygen needs as we stand together in this fight against this pandemic.”

Earlier Sajjan Jindal tweeted while tagging SII and its head Adar Poonawalla and Bharat Biotech and its Managing director Krishna Ella and wrote, “The only way we can win the fight against Covid-19 in India is to vaccinate everybody. Great to see Covid vaccine manufacturers are ramping up their capacities.”

Meanwhile, Sangeeta Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospital Group has urged the central government to take decisive steps to accelerate the production of the Covid vaccine. She said, “I urge the central government to take big and decisive steps to increase vaccine production. The government should also make vaccination procedures effective for those who don’t have an active internet connection.”

Today India reported 3.11 lakh fresh Covid cases and 4077 death in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the matter of relief is that the recovery rate of the country is higher than new cases registered. Today 3.62 lakh people recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.
