Says Punjab government didn’t sign any agreement with Adani power and nobody believes in AAP’s lies

ChiefMinister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday hit out at Arvind Kejriwal forexploiting the ongoing agitation of the farmers to further his party’s pettyelectoral agenda in Punjab with blatant lies and brazenly false propaganda.

Insharp contrast to the Kejriwal government in Delhi, which had been thriving onAmbani crumbs and had been touting its power reforms under the Reliance-runBSES as its biggest achievement, the Punjab government had neither signed anyagreement with Adani Power nor was even aware of the private players biddingfor power purchase in the state, said the Chief Minister, in a hard-hittingreaction to the latest campaign of lies and fabrications unleashed by the AamAadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.

Itwas, in fact, the Kejriwal government that was shamelessly notifying one of theblack Farm Laws on November 23, at a time when farmers were preparing to marchto Delhi to protest these very farm laws, said Captain Amarinder. And nowthey’re indulging in theatrics by announcing that they’d be sitting on fast insupport of the farmers’ hunger strike on Monday, he quipped.

“Doyou have no shame? At a time when our farmers are braving the winter cold onthe roads outside your city, and many of them are dying fighting for theirrights, all you can think of is how to make the most of the opportunity topromote your political interests,” the Chief Minister quipped, castigating hisDelhi counterpart for misleading the farmers. “Instead of doing anythingconstructive to help the protesting farmers, who are sitting outside his cityfor the past 17 days to seek justice, you and your party are busy playingpolitics,” Captain Amarinder added.

Traininghis gun at AAP’s Bhagwant Mann for shooting off his mouth without bothering toverify facts of the power purchase situation in Punjab, the Chief Minister saidhe was just a comedian who nobody ever took seriously.

Pointingout that Punjab had been purchasing additional power to support farmers duringthe sowing season for years, the Chief Minister said it was obvious thatKejriwal and his party neither knew nor cared about what goes into sowing orwhat the needs of the farmers are. All they are concerned about is takingadvantage of the plight of the farmers for their vested political interests, headded.

Frombackstabbing the farmers by implementing one of the black farm laws, to tryingto dump them in a corner of Delhi, Kejriwal had proved time and again that hewas no friend of the farmers, said Captain Amarinder. He warned the Delhi CMthat his latest attempt to drive a wedge between the Punjab government and thefarmers would not succeed with the petty and pathetic tactics adopted by AAP tospread misinformation in the state. Not only has the Punjab governmentsupported the farmers through the past 3 months of their agitation, it has evenpassed amendment Bills in the Vidhan Sabha to nullify the farm laws, he pointedout, challenging Kejriwal to cite even one example of any welfare measure takenby his government for the farmers.

ThePunjab Chief Minister said that having failed to garner the farmers’ supportdespite his theatrics in Delhi and patently false claims of house arrest, among other lies, Kejriwal hadnow turned attention to Punjab with an eye on the 2022 Assembly elections, which AAP had no hopes of winning.
