Shashi Tharror and Rajdeep Sardesai have approachedSupreme Court against multiple FIRs registered against them in various policestations across states for allegedly tweeting about unsubstantial news aboutthe death of a Sikh youth during tractor parade on Republic day, January 26.

Tharoor, a leader of Congress party and Member ofParliament is facing multiple FIRs, according to a report of the NDTV in UttarPradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, Rajdeep Sardesai, a journalist withIndia Today is facing multiple FIRs.

The journalists named in the FIRs are Mrinal Pande, VinodJose of The Caravan, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath, Anant Nath and Rajdeep Sardesai.

Meanwhile, the Editors Guild have condemned the FIRsregistered in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh against the journalists. TheGuild has condemned the “intimidating manner in which the Uttar Pradesh andMadhya Pradesh Police have registered FIRs against senior editors andjournalists (including current and former office-bearers of EGI).”

Senior Consulting Editor of National Herald- MrinalPande; Editor of Qaumi- Awaz Zafar Agha; Managing Founding Editor of TheCaravan- Paresh Nath and Treasurer of the Editor's Guild- Anant Nath have alsoapproached the apex court against the FIRs.

As per reports, one FIR was filed in Noida while fourFIRs are filed in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Hosangabad, Multai and Betul.
