Shiv Sena workers who attacked retired Navy official in Mumbai granted bail on surety of Rs 5000 fine

Six Shiv Workers who brutally assaulted Retd. Navy Officer Madan Lal in Mumbai were granted bail on Saturday. A retired naval officer named 'Madan Sharma' was beaten in Mumbai allegedly by Shiv Sena workers for forwarding a cartoon mocking Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Madan Sharma, in his complaint, said he had forwarded the cartoon to his residential society's WhatsApp group. He later received a call from one Kamlesh Kadam, who asked his name and address. In the afternoon, he was called outside the building and was attacked by a group of men. 

The Mumbai Police on Friday arrested six people, including a shakha pramukh and one member of Shiv Sena, accused of an attack on a former Navy officer in Kondivali East. Shiv Sena's shakha pramukh Kamlesh Kadam and another party worker Sanjay Manjre are among the six arrested.

Now, going by the reports of Times Now, all the arrested Shiv Sena workers have been granted bail by the Mumbai Police on a surety of Rs. 5000 fine. Now, another row has started and the opposition party are accusing the Mumbai Police that they did not impose stringent sections on the Shiv Sena goons, therefore they easily got the bail. 

As per reports the section imposed on them were bailable and of simple assault. They got the 'Table Bail' means they were not even presented to the Court. They all were given bail on a security deposit of Rs 5000 each by the Mumbai Police.  

The daughter of former Navy officer said, "A senior citizen has been attacked, police should know under which sections accused are to be arrested.They must be arrested under the attempt to murder charges. It should be non-bailable."
