Aftab Ameen Poonawala, the man has made it to the headlines after police uncovered the case of a 5-month-old horrific killing, where he chopped the body of his live-in partner into 35 pieces and fed them to the animals continuously for 18 days to avert any sort of arrest was finally nabbed by Delhi Police and has been kept under the CCTV surveillance inside the lock-up.

Reports have surfaced that show 28-years-old Aftab will remain under a sharp vigil 24x7, the clip of which has also gone viral on social media. The clippings from CCTV footage show the accused in the heinous crime lying down in the cell that he shares with another prisoner at the police station in Mehrauli in south Delhi.

A couple of policemen can also be seen sitting outside the cell, keeping an eye on him. While others were seen taking rounds outside the cell. He will remain inside the cell for the next five days until the court pronounces its next order.

Aftab Poonawala has been accused of committing one of the most heinous crimes in the recent past and was successful in covering it up for months. The couple, including the deceased Shraddha, had moved to Delhi from Mumbai in April earlier this year and had been fighting for weeks just because Shraddha, who is 26 wanted marriage.

The deceased woman was working at the call center of a multinational firm in Mumbai and met Aftab through a dating app. The duo moved in together against the wishes of her family.

Police received the clue only after Shraddha’s friend told her brother that her phone wasn’t reachable for over two months and that her social media accounts has also been deactivated.

Earlier this month Shraddha’s father lodged a missing complaint and even traveled to Delhi to check on her daughter, visited their flat but found it locked, and later approached Delhi Police to register a kidnapping case.

Police got successful in arresting the accused in the case, he confessed to the crime after an intensive grilling from the investigating team, however, not all the parts of her body have been found.

Based, on the police’s explanation, Aftab’s search history revealed he had searched for how to clean the bloodstains and dispose of the evidence. Reportedly the accused got the idea of murdering by taking inspiration from the crime thriller Dexter.
