CHANDIGARH: The State Forests and Wildlife Preservation Department told that the Black Partridge, which was gifted to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh by the Punjab Local Bodies minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu, could not be kept by an individual.

The Local Bodies Minister had got this bird from Pakistan during his visit for the foundation of the Kartarpur Corridor. The Punjab CM sent the bird to the authorities to confirm whether he is permitted to keep the bird or not. As the bird is one of the protected species under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 in India, it can only be used for ‘Educational Purposes’.
