Punjabi rap icon Sidhu Moosewala continues to make his mark on the music industry posthumously. Three songs including SYL, Vaar and now Mera Na have kept his unique brand of rap music alive and his fans engaged with him even after his death. Mera Na is being seen as a return to the Moosewala of old who was known for his high-octane populist lyrics coupled with equally impactful beats resulting in his own brand of hip hop that was appreciated by many.

The latest song Mera Na is set to be released on the 7th of April 2023. Moosewala’s song Mera Na will be exclusively available on his official YouTube channel. Snippets of Mossewala’s new song ‘Mera Na’ can be found on the internet already. In snippets of Mera Na Sidhu is heard speaking of the influence of his name on his competition in the music industry and his ability to push through opposition and criticism to keep delivering great music.

Sidhu Moosewala’s official Instagram handle has made the announcement of the full and final, uncut version of the song being released making it one of the highly anticipated singles in the Indian music industry. His previous song Vaar was met with similar fanfare on its release and spoke of famed Sikh general Hari Singh Nalwa who is still recognized as one of the finest warriors the world has ever produced, while having an astute tactical mind and unparalleled leadership skills. He is also considered one of the major reasons for the rise of the Sikh empire under Maharaja Ranjit Singh and its subsequent consolidation before his passing.

In the song SYL, an abbreviation for the Sutlej Yamuna Link, Sidhu spoke of the conflict between the Indian states of Haryana and Punjab and also spoke of the fact that they were once under the same banner as the state of Punjab, divided as it was after the partition of India. The SYL is a significant sticking point in the conflict between the two states over the supply of water which spans many decades but is yet to be resolved. Sidhu was praised by many who support Punjab’s claims on the disputed waters while those on the opposing side of the discourse questioned the intentions of his team for releasing such a controversial song after his death.
