Ahead of the anniversary of Operation Bluestar, Dal Khalsa has called for Amritsar Bandh on Friday, June 6. Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has postponed the examinations that were slated to be held on June 6 in all its colleges.
According to the orders issued by Guru Nanak Dev University, all the annual and semester examinations to be held on June 6 have been postponed due to administrative reasons. All these theory examinations will now be held on Friday, June 20, in the examination centers as per the previously scheduled time. All the information related to this will be available on the students' university website.
Security heightened in Amritsar
At the same time, the police are continuously taking out flag marches to ensure security. Last evening, the police also took out a flag march in the area around the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Dal Khalsa has also announced to take out a "Ghallughara March" this evening, which will pass through various markets of the city and end at Sri Akal Takht.
Exhibition held in the Golden Temple
The pictures of Operation Blue Star in 1984 have been displayed in Golden Temple. A temporary gallery has been constructed, where pictures of the operation and the damage caused to the Golden Temple have also been shown. SGPC says that this exhibition has been set up to spread information about the attack on Golden Temple in 1984. On the other hand, Akhand Paath started in Golden Temple yesterday. Police force on alert
Around 4 thousand policemen will be deployed for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, which will also include Punjab Armed Police personnel. Checkpoints will be set up at 62 places in Amritsar. Out of which 14 checkpoints will be around the Golden Temple and on the roads. 20 checkpoints will be within the city, 10 checkpoints will be on the outskirts of the city, and 10 checkpoints will be on the main roads leading to and from the city. Police will be deployed 24 hours a day at 52 checkpoints. About 40 DSP and SP level officers will be on surveillance.
