Rohit Sharma on Thursday consoled debutant Sarfaraz Khan's father and mother who could not stop crying seeing their son donning Team India's baggy cap and representing the country at the highest level. Sarfaraz Khan on Thursday made his Team India debut after years of hard work in the Ranji Trophy. Before making his Team India debut. Sarfaraz Khan smashed 14 centuries for the Mumbai Team in the Ranji Trophy. After KL Rahul got injured, then only Sarfaraz Khan got the opportunity to represent India at the international level. Seeing Sarfaraz getting his debut cap from legendary Anil Kumble, his mother and father could not hold themselves back and started crying in the Rajkot Stadium. 

 

While Sarfaraz shared the emotional moment with his family, it was Rohit Sharma's gesture that impressed everyone on social media. In a video shared by BCCI on X, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma went on to meet Sarfaraz's father Naushad Khan, and his mother Tabassum Khan. Rohit Sharma shook Naushad Khan's hand and hugged him to console him. In the video, Rohit Sharma can be heard saying, "'Aapne jo kia wo sabko maalum hai (Whatever you have done it is known to all)". Thereafter, Rohit goes to Safaraz's mother and shakes her hand saying, "Congratulations to you too as well." Naushad Khan then emotionally says, "Sir dhyan rakhna uska (Sir, please take care of him)" To which Rohit Sharma responds, "Yes definately."

 

Sarfaraz Khan hit half-century on debut

 

Making his debut for Team India, Sarfaraz Khan on Thursday hit a half-century. Sarfaraz showcased his batting prowess from ball one as he smashed the English bowlers all around the park. In fact, there was a time when Sarfaraz's positive cricketing shots forced Stokes to remove the spinners from both ends. Still, the debutant smashed James Anderson. However,  Sarfaraz's entertaining yet patient innings came to an end after a panicked Jadeja made a wrong call resulting in the debutant's run out. Khan played a short but strong innings of 62 off 66 balls with the help of 9 boundaries and 1 six.
