Slain gangster Vikas Dubey's wife objects to film on husband's life

The lawyers and Dubey's wife say the movie and the book violate their Right to Privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

Richa Dubey, a wife of a slain gangster Vikas Dubey, killed in police encounter on July 10, 2020, sent a legal notice to an author of a book and a film maker on taking up Vikas Dubey as a subject for their book and film.

Dubey's wife has sought ban on any material based on her husband's life. Richa's husband was encountered after his arrest from Madhya Pradesh when he and his associates killed 8 policemen-Bikru massacre- on July 3, 2020.

Filing a petition, Richa has reportedly said that if she will not get any satisfactory response, she will go to High Court. The lawyer in the case have also asked for the intervention of Union Information and Broadcasting minister.

Richa believes that the book and film based on the 'Bikru massacre' could malign the image of her family.

Prabha Shankar Mishra and Rishab Raj, both the lawyers in the case told the media persons that the book titled 'Main Kanpur Wala' is being written by Mridul Kapil.

Similarly, the film has been titled as 'Hanak' is underway shooting in various areas. The lawyers and Dubey's wife say the movie and the book violate their Right to Privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

Article 21 of the Indian constitution says that no person can be denied his right to life and personal freedom except through the process established by law.

Richa further alleges that permission was not sought before making the film or writing the book. Mohan Nagar is making the film and it is being shot in Madhya Pradesh.
