New Delhi: The second phase of polling for 95 constituencies concluded on Thursday, with a meagre decrease in the total turnout of voters. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections a total of 69.5% of voting took place while this year second phase was concluded with a dip of almost 2%, as total turnout was only 68%.
Like the first phase of polling, voting dropped in huge numbers in West-Bengal with 76.4% followed by Assam (76.4%), Chhattisgarh (73%), Manipur (77.9%) and Tamil Nadu (71.1%). While in the Union Territory Puducherry a total of 77.5% voting took place.

However, Bihar in the second phase of polling did not come in the last like the first phase of polling. It was Jammu and Kashmir where the lowest percentage of voters appeared to vote with only 45.6%. Srinagar recorded just 14%, significantly lower than 25.9% in 2014 but higher than 7.1% in the parliamentary by-election. A total of 62.04% of voters appeared to vote in Bihar.
Ironically, the three constituencies of Chhattisgarh which were affected by the Maoists like Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund saw a significant increase in the voting with a total turnout of 73%.
