Seven years after getting married, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have announced their divorce. In a joint statement, the couple announced their 'difficult decision' to divorce. The two confirmed that they were splitting up amicably while asking people to "respect" their privacy as they move through this next stage of their life.
What is the reason behind the divorce?
The pair allegedly just drifted apart, according to some insiders. “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future,” the insider said.
In a statement, Sofia and Joe wrote, "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that have love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
When did the rumors of the split-up spark?
Sofia Vergara, who turned 51 last week, is currently travelling and having fun with her pals in Italy. On Instagram, she posted a number of things, but none of them included Joe.
On July 11, a day after Sofia's birthday Joe wished her on Instagram. Sharing their photo, he simply wrote, "Happy Birthday Sofia!!!" Rumors of a breakup were sparked by the actress' solo posts. Fans expressed worry after Joe addressed Sofia by her name in his birthday message for her.
A fan wrote, "Am I the only one who doesn't like the way it sounds? 'Sofia'…… not even 'My love, My beloved wife'…..".
Another wrote, "Ok this is weird. I'm scared."
About the couple’s marriage:
On November 22, 2015, Manganiello and Vergara exchanged vows at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The couple reportedly exchanged vows in both English and Spanish, saying "I will" rather than "I do." She posted several throwback images on her social media accounts last year in honor of their seventh wedding anniversary. She had written "Love You (red heart emojis)" as the post's caption.
The couple last appeared in public together in June, when Joe was filming his comedy film, 'Nonnas' with Vince Vaughn. The actress's latest post with her hubby was on June 29 and it included a ton of old pictures from their vacation to Italy.
