Sona, Priyanka Chopra's new Indian restaurant in New York City, opened on March 26, 2021. The international icon posted a series of posts on the restaurant's big opening day, calling it a "labour of love," and saying she can't wait to give the world a taste of timeless India."Today is the first day of @sonanewyork's season! What began as a simple desire for great Indian food has grown into this labour of love, and I can't wait to welcome you all in and introduce you to timeless India in the heart of New York! "she said in a post on Instagram.

Priyanka credited her team for the efforts. "This has been a team effort all the way... from the many many menu deliberations, food tastings, and decor decisions with @maneeshkgoyal, @davidrabin8, Chef @harinayak, and @mabowersinc, to landing on the perfect name, all thanks to @nickjonas - yes! Hubby came up with the name at an early tasting with the team, as Sona means “gold,” and he had heard that word in India, well..a lot, throughout our wedding!"She also told guests about the measures taken to ensure their safety during the pandemic. "We're opening in accordance with both NYC and NY State safety regulations to ensure you have a night to remember," she said.
"We can't wait to be of use to you! Yes, we did it, team! "Priyanka expressed her joy while also expressing her disappointment for not being present on Sona's special day in person, but in spirit.

"Opening a restaurant is a team effort for sure," Maneesh Goratyal wrote alongside this picture of Priyanka earlier in March. I'm going to spend the next few posts highlighting the people who helped make SONA a reality. To begin, I'd like to thank my wonderful friend @priyankachopra, who was the driving force behind SONA. No one personifies "world Indian" better — or more boldly — than Pri.
Priyanka also shared glimpses into the desi cuisine that the restaurant offers, prepared by chef Hari Nayak. In fact, the restaurant also gave us a sneak peek into its signature dishes on social media. The fine-dining restaurant also celebrates the richness of Indian art, grabbing the attention of one and all the walls of the restaurant hang magnificent artworks by renowned Indian artists, including contemporary and modern artists. For this, Sona has partnered with advisory Sunderland to showcase exclusive art from India. The art pieces are also available for private acquisition. The inauguration of Sona comes days after Priyanka, restaurateur Maneesh Goyal and their team held a prayer ceremony for the new venture.
