Sonbhadra gold mine not only hub of 5 times India's current reserves but also home of some world's most poisonous snakes

As per district mining officer K K Rai, the gold deposits were found and Son Pahadi and Hardi areas on Friday. As per officials, the deposits in Son Pahadi are estimated to be around 2,943.26 tonnes, while that at Hardi block are around 646.16 kilograms.

In a major breakthrough was achieved by the Geological Survey of India (GSI), when a gold mine was discovered with gold deposits estimated to be around 3,000 tonnes and worth Rs 12 lakh crore in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. As per reports, the gold deposits are almost five times India's current reserve of the yellow metal.

As per district mining officer K K Rai, the gold deposits were found and Son Pahadi and Hardi areas on Friday. As per officials, the deposits in Son Pahadi are estimated to be around 2,943.26 tonnes, while that at Hardi block are around 646.16 kilograms. The work of excavation was started almost two decades back in 1992-93 by the Geological Survey of India.

However, every coin has two aspects similarly, the Sonbhadra gold mine is surrounded by many poisonous snakes. The area is famous for snakes like Russel Viper, Cobra and Krait. The mountain region surrounding Sonbhadra is home to these snakes. One of the deadliest snakes in the world 'Russel Viper' found only in Sonbhadra district. Sonbhadra district lies between Vindhyanchal and Kaimur hills and it is also called the energy capital of India due to the presence of many thermal power plants.
