#StayStrongIndia: Burj Khalifa lights up with Tricolour in solidarity with India amid COVID crisis

The tallest skyscraper in the world, Burj Khalifa, in Dubai lit up with the Indian flag with a message “Stay Strong India” as the country on Sunday recorded 3.54 Lakh new cases and 2800 deaths.

As India is reeling under the second wave of COVID-19, international support has started pouring in from all corners of the world not only in the form of much needed medical supplies but also moral backing.

On Sunday, Burj Khalifa, the landmark building in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was illuminated with the Tricolour and a message “Stay Strong India” was displayed on the building to show solidarity with the country as it tries to tackle the pandemic.

 

Burj Khalifa has a total height of 829.8 m and a roof height of 828 m, is the tallest structure and building in the world.

"As India battles the gruesome war against COVID19, its friend UAE sends its best wishes. Burj Khalifa in Dubai lits up in (Tricolour) to showcase its support," the Embassy of India in the UAE posted on Twitter along with a video of the Burj Khalifa.

Indian Ambassador to UAE Pavan Kapoor tweeted: “India appreciates the UAE’s strong support to its close friend in difficult times.”

India’s COVID cases hit a new record high on Sunday with 3.54 lakh fresh infections and 2800 deaths, taking the total tally of confirmed cases to 1.73 crores confirmed cases and 1.95 lakhs deaths.

The medical infrastructure in the country is overwhelmed and SOS messages for oxygen and hospital beds have flooded social media.

Recently, the UAE has banned travel from India for 10 days due to the sudden spike in the COVID-19 crisis in the country. This will not include departure flights and the ban will not apply to UAE citizens, diplomatic passport holders and officials delegations, according to the report.
