First Story Positive: India’s Real-life ‘Young Sheldon’ Nirbhay Thacker who became an Engineer at 15

Initially labelled as a 'weak student', the young prodigy from Gujarat proved the doubters wrong by completing his bachelor's degree at age 15

Nirbhay Thackar, a young prodigy from Gujarat, completed his Higher Secondary Education at the age of 13. From there he went on to become Gujarat’s youngest engineer at the age of 15. It took him one year to complete a 4-year Bachelor’s degree Course at Gujarat Technical University. He was also given the Young Achiever's Award by the World Education Congress. He is currently studying at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Gandhinagar with a lofty goal of aquiring 10 engineering degrees within the next 3 to 4 years. Here is a glimpse into Nirbhay’s journey from being labelled a “weak student” in his formative years to being the youngest Engineer from Gujarat:

 

Nirbhay was born in 2002 and completed his Higher Secondary Education at the age of 13. Normally one would receive the HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) at the age of 17 or 16, but Nirbhay’s studies accelerated in the eighth grade. He completed his eighth to tenth grade curriculum in six months and finished his eleventh and twelfth grade curriculum in just three.

 

His rapid ascent continued as he decided to undertake a 4-year B. Tech. program at the Gujarat Technology Institute which he managed to complete in just one year. His degree was certified by the GTU in 2018 when he was just 15 years old. 

 

Notably he also undertook the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) and managed to score 75 out of 360. He has an insatiable thirst for knowledge as his ambitious goals include acquiring 10 engineering degress within the next three to four years. He explains that his recipe for success is simple: don’t just memorize but understand. This approach made him formidable amongst academics.

 

He currently studies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar. Whats his goal? we hear you ask. It is to make the future cooler with his tech skills, especially in defence. He is not just an engineer, he is a superhero of learning, proving that with determination and the right attitude, anything can be achieved. Nirbhay's story reminds us that the sky's the limit when it comes to learning and achieving our dreams.
