The Incident

After completing his work routine, a man pulls over to his home and while he waits for the gates to open, as almost every one of us does in evening, when two bike riders open small arms fire on him into his car. The killers wanted to ensure a certain death, since they riddled him with bullets precluding any chance of recovery.

The man was an employee of Indigo Airlines, the state is Bihar, and just like any common Indian, the deceased man, Rupesh Kumar Singh, had a wife and two children.

The Family in the Aftermath

The family of the victim is obviously in disarray. While his two children, both under ten years of age, present a strong front, their mother is unable to contain her despair.

The family has shared their concerns and their fair demand for justice with leaders they have met with.

The father of the deceased shares his utmost misfortune of being a father who will cremate his son than the other way around.

Political Leveraging

The ruling party of Bihar, led by Nitish Kumar, has expressed sadness at the loss of a human life and the utter disrespect for the law and order in his state. He has strictly instructed the police officials concerned to get the matter sorted out as not only the family requires justice but his state’s law and order must not be allowed to degenerate into pre-2005 situation, when criminals ruled the state.

The opposing parties are laying the blame fair and square on Nitish and even some sections of media are proposing a fancy term Jungle Raj 2.0 based on the unfortunate death. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the leader of the opposition has challenged that the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is a tired man who is now unable to handle the reins of the state.

Progress by Police

Away from the political finger-pointing, the police has achieved progress in solving the case. Analysis of CCTV footage, and other sources indicate that the two men who killed the deceased have done overtaken the latter’s car while he was returning. Further, they knew the streets well as indicated by their quick getaway after the murder.

The police has informed, “We have some vital clues which we would not like to divulge right now. But we are confident that the culprits would be caught soon.” Further, post-mortem report of the deceased was awaited.
