Strict action against societies working without registration under Rights Of Persons With Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016-ADC Jasbir Singh

Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh on Thursday said that the district administration would take strict action against the societies, NGOs which are working for specially-abled, without registration under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016.

Chairing a meeting of the Local level committee to implement the act here at the District Administrative Complex, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the administration was duty-bound to facilitate the specially-abled persons. 

He said that it was mandatory for the societies to get registered under the RPWD Act but also follow rules and conditions mentioned in the RPwD Rules, 2019.

He said that there is a need to create awareness about legal guardianship in the district. He said that most such persons have to face a lot of problems in the absence of legal guardianship. He appealed to all such societies to register under the Act immediately for the welfare of specially-abled persons.  

In the meeting, the officials also discussed making government buildings, ATMs, parks, and public transport more convenient and friendly for the specially-abled persons.
