'Students want exams to be held at any cost" says Education Minister Pokhriyal

The minister assured that these competitive-entrance exams will not create a problem for students

Ending up the row over the postponement of NEET-JEE exams in midst of the ongoing pandemic, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, on Thursday, has said that more than 17 lakh candidates have downloaded the admit cards for the exams. 

e added, "students want exams to be held at any cost."

"National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General (DG) told me that 7.5 lakh out of 8.58 lakh candidates in JEE have downloaded admit cards. For NEET, over 10 lakh out of 15.97 lakhs candidates downloaded admit cards in twenty-four hours. It shows that students want that exams are held at any cost," the minister was quoted saying by the news agency.

The minister assured that these competitive-entrance exams will not create a problem for students, exam centers have been increased to 660 from 570, and NEET exam centers to 3,842 from 2,546. 

Earlier on Wednesday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the SOPs for the students who are going to appear for the exams from September 1 to 13 amidst the Covid-19.
