Watch: Sub Inspector Harjeet Singh receives warm home-coming after being discharged from Hospital

On Thursday, Sub-Inspector (SI) Harjeet Singh, whose hand was severed in a clash by Nihang Sikhs in Patiala on April 12, was discharged from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

Information about his discharge was shared by Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh and DGP Dinkar Gupta both on their twitter handles.

On reaching his area of residence, SI Harjeet received a grand welcome, Punjab Police band on the tunes of victory hailed his home-coming. 

SI Harjeet's family members gave him a warm welcome, distributed sweets among the police officials who had accompanied SI to his residence. Harjeet Singh in the video can be seen relishing the moments of joy and glory, gives his thanks to the police officials for supporting him and for standing by his side.

In this regard, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday thanked the PGI Hospital doctors and paramedical for staff for treating the COVID-19 warrior policeman whose hand was severed and reimplanted in a clash while imposing curfew restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus.


"Happy to share that SI Harjeet Singh has been discharged from PGI, Chandigarh today. I thank doctors, nurses, paramedics and all the staff of PGI for taking good care of him," the Chief Minister tweeted. 

It is worth mentioning here, Punjab CM has approved the appointment of SI Harjeet Singh's son--Arshpreet Singh as a Constable in Punjab Police. DGP Dinkar Gupta has signed the appointment and handed over the letter to SI Harjeet before his discharge from PGIMER. 

DGP Gupta further explained that Harjeet Singh's son will serve the people of Punjab as courageously as his father.
