On Monday, the plea of the West Bengal unit of BJP had been rejected by the Supreme Court, which had banned the loudspeakers in the residential areas in the state, stating that election campaigning were not more important than the studies of children.

The plea had been filed by the West Bengal unit of BJP, claiming that Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government had attempt this to "muzzle" its voice and "violated" the party's constitutional right to garner public support ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections.

In different parts of West Bengal, the Central Government and TMC government were recently locked in a legal battle in the top court over the former's proposed 'rath yatra'.

The state government not allowed the BJP's rallies in the state, asserting that it would create law and order problems. While, the team of CBI moved to arrest Rajeev Kumar, Kolkata Police Commissioner on February 3, the full blown face off between the Centre Government and the TMC erupted.

Banerjee started her 'Save the Constitution' dharna to escalate her confrontation with the Centre to protest against what the TMC called a ‘coup’ by PM Modi-led NDA government.

Banerjee said that she will be taking her fight against the Central Government to Delhi in the coming days and ended her sit in protest after three days.
