Sushant Singh Rajput Postmortem report: Died of asphyxiation due to hanging

As per reports from the police, Sushant was suffering from depression for the past six months

Finally, Sushant SIngh Rajput's first postmortem report has been released. The Cooper Hospital in Mumbai released an advance certificate on Monday and cited asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of his death in the report. Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14 in an apparent suicide.

As per reports from the police, Sushant was suffering from depression for the past six months.

His viscera samples have been preserved for chemical analysis and will be sent to the forensic science laboratory.


Sushant's family members arrived in Mumbai on Sunday night from Patna for his funeral today. The reason behind Sushant's apparent suicide is not clear as no note was recovered from his residence. Police, however, recovered some items including his medical records for investigation.
