Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters Priyanka and Meetu had knocked on the doors of the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR registered by the Mumbai Police on the complaint of actress Rhea Chakraborty. The complaint by Rhea Chakraborty was later transferred to the CBI. . Rhea, in her six-page long complaint stated that Sushant passed away five days after he obtained a prescription wherein “he was unlawfully prescribed psychotropic substances at the behest of his sister Priyanka”.

To counter this,  Sushant sisters Meetu and Priyanka have filed a petition to quash the FIR filed by Rhea Chakraborty.

The division bench of Justice SS Shinde and Justice MS Karnik had earlier asked them as to what was the urgency in hearing the petition. Advocate Madhav Thorat, appearing for the sisters, told the court that since there is already an FIR against the sisters, they are already an accused in the case, and this is why they fear that they could be arrested any time. In the petition, Priyanka and Meetu are also seeking an interim relief that no coercive steps are taken against them.

Rhea Chakraborty's Lawyer Satish Maneshinde's reply:

"(Sushant) Rajput died merely five days after he obtained the said prescription, wherein he was unlawfully prescribed psychotropic substances at the behest of his sister (Priyanka) and Dr. Tarun Kumar," Rhea Chakraborty said in her affidavit.

It needs to be investigated whether Sushant Rajput consumed the medicines prescribed, which may have contributed to his death and/or further deteriorated his mental health, the affidavit said.

The petition (of Sushant Rajput's sisters) should be dismissed, it said.

Court's Direction:

CBI's Counsel Additional Solicitor General to file a rejoinder to Maneshinde's reply. The matter will now be heard on November 4.
