Sushmita Sen is the mother of two adopted daughters. At the age of 24 years old she had adopted her first daughter Renee Sen in 2000 while her second daughter named Alisah was adopted in 2010.

• Apne: Susmita had also rejected Apne for the same reason. Apne was a sports drama film directed by Anil Sharma. It is the first film to feature Dharmendra and his real-life sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. This movie starred Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty and Kirron Kher in the female lead roles.
• Zakhm: Sushmita Sen was all set to star in the 1997 film Zakhm, but the project was shelved. The. It was directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film also starred Faraaz Khan and Sucheta Khanna.
