SYL-Dispute Dispute-on-SYL Arvind-Kejriwal

Concerning the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, the Aam Aadmi Party has been surrounded by opposition. When Arvind Kejriwal, who reached Hisar, was questioned, he raised questions about the opponents. What is the stand of the Congress and the BJP in Punjab and Haryana, asked Arvind Kejriwal.  He said that in Punjab they said that SYL will not be allowed to be formed. In Haryana, they said that we will take the water of SYL. These people do dirty politics.

He said that there is a water shortage in both states. In Punjab and Haryana, the groundwater is extremely low. Both states need water. It is the responsibility of the Center to arrange water for Punjab and Haryana. Making Punjab and Haryana fight is not the Center's duty. India won't develop in this way.

It is possible that Haryana and Punjab can get water. This should be the Center's responsibility. He demanded from PM Narendra Modi that he should make arrangements for this. If they don't have a solution then call me, I will tell them. We should not do politics of different stand in both the states. He promised to inform PM Modi about the solution.

The AAP MP had promised to bring SYL water to Haryana. There is an AAP government in Punjab. Preparations are on to contest the Adampur by-election in Haryana. After this, the assembly elections are to be held. The party's aim is to win both elections.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Supreme Court heard the case in which the central government claimed Punjab is not cooperating. In this regard, a letter was sent to the Punjab CM in April, but no response has been received.

Following this, the Supreme Court ordered the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti to meet with Punjab and Haryana to discuss the problem within a month, prepare a report, and submit it to the Supreme Court. Its next hearing will be on 19 January 2023.
