India’s first engine-less train to run between Delhi and Varanasi -

With the 2019 Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the Indian Railways is going to operate the much hyped and country first engineless train, T-18 between Delhi and Varanasi. The ministry has asked the zonal railways to get the tracks ready, so that the much awaited train could be “introduced on a short notice”. The final trial is scheduled to be conducted on 21-22 December, 2018.

The train had a trial run on 29th October this year on the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section in which it touched a speed of 180 kmph. The train was developed by Chennai Integral Coach Factory in 18 months and has been built in a way that the passengers can see the driver cabin.

T-18 is the second high-end, Made in India, superfast train after the Mahanama Express. The train has all the modern day facilities like WiFi, Automated doors, rotating seats and CCTVs.
