It was in 2007 when Darsheel Safary turned into a household name with his performance in Taare Zameen Par. The actor played the role of Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi, a student with a learning disorder. It's easily been one of the most memorable performances from a child actor in Bollywood, and Darsheel won the audience's love and critical acclaim with his work in the film. Darsheel went on to star in films like Bumm Bumm Bole, Zokkomon and Midnight's Children. He also tried his hand at television as a contestant in several reality shows including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 5. He was last seen with Sushmita Sen’s daughter Renee Sen in ‘Suttabaazi’.

Darsheel turned 23 this year. Speaking about how life changed post the success of 'Taare Zameen Par', Darsheel had told in an interview, "It changed a little bit. Everybody knew me in school and talked about the movie. Taare Zameen Par was a hit. My equation with my family remained more or less the same. My sister was really small back then and she made my heart melt every time she cried. She really didn’t understand what I was doing or how popular I was. My family kept me grounded."
