Tamil Nadu Lockdown: Here's list of what’s allowed and what’s not

The total lockdown would be imposed from 4 am on May 10 to 4 am on May 24, which is the state will remain shut for 2 weeks.

On Saturday, the government of Tamil Nadu has announced that a two-week would be imposed in the state, the lockdown will help in breaking the chain of transmission. 

In a statement Chief Minister of state, Stalin said, “The total lockdown will be imposed from 4 am on May 10 to 4 am on May 24.” This decision has been taken after the review meeting with district collectors and medical experts.

What would remain open and what would be shut:

No prohibition on the supply of milk and dairy products, newspapers, couriers, pharmacies, ambulances, hospital equipment, and vehicle carrying agricultural produce and medical oxygen.

Offices (both government and private) will remain shut, except those which are involved in essential services.

All grocery shops may remain open until noon.

Retail outlets in Koyembedu wholesale market would remain close.

Restaurants and cafes will remain open but inside sitting would not be allowed, there is permission for take away/delivery.

The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC) shops, liquor shops would remain close.

All non-essential departments would remain close

Cinemas, multiplexes, spas, gyms, beauty parlors, bars, meeting halls, and more such similar places would remain shut.

Swimming pools, Sports training academies, Summer camps are not allowed.

Schools, colleges, and other educational institutes would remain close.

Petrol Pumps would function, and banks would be open with 50 percent of the workforce.

Amma canteen would be allowed to operate. 

International traveling has been banned, people traveling within the country have to register themselves.

Metro rails service would remain close, and autos and taxis are permitted to travel related to the emergency purpose. 

All religious places would remain close for the public.
