Tarn Taran’s District Education Officer suspended over corruption charges

Instead of using the grant for purchase of uniforms to be given to the children, money was being utilized by him for other purposes.

In the latest development, the District Education Officer of Tarn Taran was suspended by the Punjab government on Thursday due to corruption charges. The orders of suspension were issued by Punjab Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains.

Reportedly, Harjot Singh Bains on the order Mann government ordered suspension of Tarn Taran’s DEO for manipulating the grants given by government. It is being alleged that DEO did not follow guidelines given by Punjab government. Instead of using the grant for purchase of uniforms to be given to the children, money was being utilised for other purposes.

He has been suspended from his post under Rule 4(1) of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Act, 1970
