Thailand Shooting: Ex-Cop kills 34 including 22 children in a horrific shooting spree at a child care centre, shot self-dead

At least around 34 people, including 22 kids were shot dead in a mass shooting in Thailand’s North Eastern province at a Children’s day-care centre. As per the Reuters report, the murderer has been identified as Panya Khamrab a former Police Officer.

Soon after the incident, the gunman shot himself dead after claiming the innocent lives including that of his wife and child.

Citing the police officials the Reuters report mentioned that children as young as 2 years were among those killed in the mass shooting and 12 others were grievously injured in the incident.

The official confirmed to Reuters the gunman killed his wife and child and himself during the incident. He was reportedly discharged from the police force last year owing to drug-related reasons.

It was in the centre town of Nong bua Lamphu where the incident took place this afternoon, the police said, that the gunman carried guns and knives as he forced his way inside the centre and opened fire during lunchtime.

The officials said that around 30 children were present at the centre when he barged in one official named Jidapa Boonsom said that he first shot four or five staff including an eight-month pregnant teacher and then resorted to children in the rampage.

Video from the scene has been making rounds on social media that shows sheets covering the lifeless bodies of children in the pool of blood.

Reportedly, the rate of gun ownership in Thailand is significantly high than in countries in the region, excluding a huge number of illegal weapons.

One similar incident rocked the country back in 2020 when an angry soldier over a property deal went on an absolute carnage killing 29 people in four separate locations, besides leaving 57 others injured.
