‘The Idol’ fame Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK to join MCU? Here’s the reality

Post Jennie’s acting debut as Dyanne on ‘The Idol’ rumors circulated of her joining the Marvel Universe. Here is what her agency YG entertainment has to say

Jennie Ruby Jane, popularly known as Jennie is a South Korean singer and actress who is a part of the popular girl group BLACKPINK. She is popular for songs like SOLO; You and Me (unreleased); Kill This love among many others. Recently debuted as an actress in the HBO original series ‘The idol’ where she played the role of Dyanne who is a backup dancer of Jocelyn (Lily Rose Depp). Jennie's performance in The Idol got mixed reviews as some fans supported her and some even slammed her acting skills and called her “talentless” saying that they don’t see the need as to why her agency let her sign such a role. However, not long after her not-so-successful debut, rumors are circulating around Jennie claiming that she is joining Marvel's MCU Universe.

Marvel Universe is one of the biggest superhero universes in Hollywood which is popularly known as MCU and is loved by millions around the world. Speculations of Jennie joining Marvel in a Asian superhero team known as Team Agents of Atlas. According to the reports, Jennie was apparently rumored to portray the role of Luna Snow/Seol Hee who is a Korean pop star and a superhero who has the power of manipulation. The character is a Pacific Rim protector and saves the world from lot of threats. This caused a stir of excitement among her fans who thought that their idol is finally going to be a part of the most successful universe of all time.

Jennie was also recently in a dating controversy with BTS’ V aka Taehyung after her videos with him surfaced online as the couple walked in Paris hand in hand while she was busy attending MET GALA and launching her clothing line with Calvin Klein and her CANNES debut.

However, soon the fans’ excitement turned into disappointment as Jennie’s agency YG Entertainment which manages popular Korean idols such as BLACKPINK, WINNER, TREASURE, BIG BANG among many others released a statement suppressing all the rumors. The agency clearly stated on 12th June 2023 to star news “Jennie has never received an offer to appear in Marvel series ‘Team Agent of Atlas’.” Meanwhile, this news had mixed reactions from the netizens most of them are disappointed whereas others were glad judging by her performance in The Idol.
