The controversial rapper Kanye West is always in the news for his problematic behavior in more ways than one but one of his stints made its way to the television zone as well on an even more problematic show " The Idol". The show, created by and starring the pop sensation The Weeknd, has been in the news for its weak writing and over-indulgence in unnecessary nudity and graphic sexual content receiving negative reception from both critics and viewers alike with some deeming it to be one of the worst TV shows of all time. The show had its last episode aired on July 2, 2023, ending at just five episodes despite being intended for six episodes. With its much-anticipated conclusion, the show also threw a jab at a real-life figure whose demeanor is as questionable as the show's content he was mentioned in.

In the final episode of the show, pop star Jocelyn played by Lily Rose-Depp tries to convince her management team that she was ready to go back on stage to perform. Jocelyn’s agent replied by saying, “You know, f–king Kanye was filling arenas until he decided to start following Adolf Hitler” in reference to the pop star’s relationship with cult leader Tedros played by showrunner The Weeknd in the show. This statement is a juxtaposition to Kanye West's admiration for the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. In The Idol series, the cult leader Tedros preys on vulnerable and troubled pop star Jocelyn after her mother's death.

Kanye West received a lot of backlash for his anti-semantic behavior as an ex-employee sued the rapper back in November 2022 due to him repeatedly singing praises of the Nazis and Hitler. Due to his troublesome statements, even now Kanye West found himself in a huge amount of legal trouble in the last couple of years with several high-end companies like Adidas, Vogue, and Gap cutting their sponsorship ties with the rapper. Finding a venue to perform live on stage is also tough for Kanye as finding a production team to sponsor the project is no piece of cake post his controversies. The rapper also wanted to name his 2018 album after the highly diabolical dictator but withdrew his plans due to reasons best known to him.
