The decision to appoint an Acting DGP of Punjab can come in today or tomorrow. Now it is clear that the current Punjab DGP VK Bhawra is going to go on a long holiday. But the race has started among the officers regarding the post of acting DGP Punjab.

The first name is Gaurav Yadav, IPS of the 1992 batch. The first reason is his experience in Law and Order. He is considered as a very friendly officer. Another reason behind this is believed that Gaurav Yadav is being supported by the big leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and it is being said that if IPS Gaurav Yadav does not become acting DGP, then this leader will not cooperate in the work of Punjab. This leader has a big hand in forming the Aam Aadmi Party’s government in Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal can't ignore this thing.

Harpreet Singh Sidhu, IPS, Batch 1992: He is the chief of the anti-drug Special Task Force. IPS Sidhu is considered to be a tough officer and some people in the government believe that Sidhu should be made acting DGP so that some tough decisions can be taken in Punjab. With this, the working of Punjab Police will get better.

Dr. Sharad Satyam Chauhan, IPS, Batch 1992: A part of the government wants to see him as an acting DGP.
If the government wants to make a permanent DGP, then the government has to send a penal to the UPSC. And it is the most expected that IPS Sharad Satyam Chauhan’s name will definitely go on the list.
