The Kerala Story hardly needs any introduction as the movie was a massive hit after it was released in theaters in May 2023. Despite the controversy and backlash from a certain community, The Kerala Story turned out to be a box-office success that raked in more than Rs 100 crore. Ever since the trailer of The Kerala Story was dropped, it started a debate when the makers stated that 32,000 women belonging to Hindu and Christian communities were forcefully converted and were sent to terror training camps from 'God's own country' and it was stated that it is based on a true story. However, after multiple legal notices, the makers of The Kerala Story clarified that it is a story of three Indian girls who went to Afghanistan and joined ISIS after they were brainwashed. Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story starred Bollywood actress Adah Sharma in the lead role. However, the movie is yet to be released on OTT despite the fact that it is now no longer running in theaters. The Kerala Story director Sudipto Sen recently in an interview with a portal stated that although the movie is ready to be streamed online, but no OTT platforms have given him a suitable offer. The maker of Kerala Story stated that the film industry has ganged up so that they can be punished as they cannot digest the movie's box-office success. "But so far, we have not got any offer worth considering. It seems the film industry has ganged up to punish us," said Sudipto Sen. Talking about the reason for punishment, Sen replied, "Our box office success has irked many sections of the film industry. We have a feeling that a section of the entertainment industry has united to punish us for our success." For the unversed, The Kerala Story has grossed more than Rs 230 crore at the box office and has been watched by over 3.40 crore people.

In an interaction with news website Rediff, The Kerala Story director Sudipto Sen rejected reports of the film being ready for streaming claiming they haven't got suitable offers from any OTT platorms.
