The final episodes of the Disney+Hotstar thriller series that Sandeep Modi developed for India, written by Shridhar Raghavan, and directed by Modi and Priyanka Ghose, revolves around the battle between soldier-turned-hotelier-turned-spy Shantanu "Shaan" Sengupta (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and illegal arms dealer Shailendra "Shelly" Rungta (Anil Kapoor). We catch up with Roy Kapur's Shaan Sengupta after he has successfully penetrated the inner circle of the infamous British miniseries' arms dealer Shelly Rungta in the three-episode Part 2 of Hotstar's Hindi adaptation of the series. It has been released today, June 30.

Was Shaan successful in exposing Shelly?

Yes, Shaan was successful in exposing Shelly. In India, Shelly sent his men to Lipika’s house to get the name of the agent working for her. Lipika fights him off but ends up in the hospital as his husband was beaten way too much. This opens the eyes of Mitter who thinks that Shelly had been working for India. Mitter gives Lipika 48 hours to prove Shelly guilty. On the other hand, Shaan has already informed Lipika that they were in the same hotel in Dhaka from where the whole story started. Lipika reaches the hotel to execute her further plan (spoilers ahead).

Back in the hotel, Shelly has finally discovered that Shaan is the mastermind behind everything. BJ had employed a man to trace the kidnappers of Taha (Shelly’s son), and they revealed that Shaan had been in on the plan all along.

Shelly confronted Shaan but he could not kill him as he could not complete the deal without him. Shaan remains extremely quiet and everyone believes that his plan has come to an end. But the entire plot changes when Shaan reveals that the entire place where the arms were kept had been rigged with bombs which were going to burst in a few minutes. And the same happened, as the whole garage was blown to bits. Back in the hotel, Lipika is waiting to arrest Shelly, and there is nothing he can do.

The Plot of The Night Manager 2

Carry On Jatta 3 review: Old wine in a new bottle falters

In the latest part released, the narratives pick up from where it left off. The story begins with Shelly Rungta, an armaments dealer who has caught the eye of a well-known business mogul. Even his closest pals are taken aback when Shelly unexpectedly establishes an alliance with Shaan. However, questions remain on how long this alliance will last and whether Shaan will finally turn on him. Shaan infiltrates Shelly's inner circle and embarks on a mission to uncover exclusive information about the latter's dubious activities in order to expose him. Shaan becomes emotionally involved with Shelly's girlfriend Kaveri (Dhulipala) while working on a clandestine assignment, which could be disastrous for both of them. He is forced to make difficult decisions as a result of being in such a situation, which makes things more complicated for him and extremely fascinating for the audience.

Later with the help of Lipika Saiki, he exposes Shelly and ruins his arms deal. The Indian Intelligence finally gets to know the real Shelly and how he was a threat to India. He gets arrested but instead to everyone’s surprise, he was taken away from the Police custody. It is to be believed that the men who took Shelly from the Police custody were working for the man with whom Shelly’s deal was ruined. They take Shelly along as a payback for not completing the deal and non-delivery of the weapons. Lipika and Shaan don’t interfere, saying that Shelly deserves the worst possible death to come his way.

Is the ending justified after the 4-month long wait?

Part 2 of The Night Manager took an unnecessarily long time to grace our screens. We had been wondering whether the makers had completely forgotten about it. However, Part 2 keeps up the pace of Part 1 and offers pretty much the same things. It is definitely not the kind of an explosive one expected it to be but it surely does have its share of Fireworks.
