The stock markets once again attempt to break the highs

SENSEX having difficulty though is above 40,000; all market caps near resistance; media and metal stocks weak performers; rest all laggards.

Stock-Market SENSEX NIFTY

SENSEX having difficulty

The benchmark indices of India stock markets SENSEX and NIFTY are having difficulty to move higher. It is noteworthy that the indices attempted to break higher from this area a couple of weeks back but the markets strongly rejected the highs. Still, the SENSEX is holding above 40,500 and the NIFTY 50 is holding above 11,850.

All market-caps at their resistance

Indices of the large-, mid-, and small-cap stocks are all at their resistances. Thus, the stock market is in an important position as to whether the investors will accept the higher prices or will reject the higher prices and the markets will fall.

Sector-performance

In line with the broader market, most of the sector indices are in the red. Pharmaceuticals stocks are the worst-hit with the index being down 1%. Only two sectors – media and metals – are able to stay in the green, but barely so. The former is up about 0.60% and the latter is up about 0.80% at the time of writing.
