Bollywood actor Sonu Sood on Friday withdrew his petition challenging the Bombay High Court's verdict in the illegal construction case. The Bombay high court had dismissed the actor’s appeal against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notice to him over alleged illegal construction at his residential building at Juhu. Sood on the advice of senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi withdrew his petition from the Supreme Court and seek a decision on his application for regularisation of alleged illegal construction from the civic body.

In turn, Chief Justice of India SA Bobde praised Sood for his decision and said, "This is one of the rare instances that a case has been resolved through correct advice and does not happen very often."

Following this, Sood released his official written statement and said, "The honorable Supreme Court has finally given me a breath of fresh air and time to take corrective measures. The structure was always legal, despite it being colored otherwise. I feel vindicated since I have always had utmost and complete faith in the judiciary, and have always strived to abide by the law"
