The Surrogacy, also known as Madre de alquiler is an upcoming Mexican Netflix Original drama series written and created by Araceli Guajardo. The series was filmed in Spanish, and produced by a Mexican film studio Argos Comunicación. Talking about The Surrogacy star cast, Shani Lozano will make her acting debut in The Surrogacy in the lead role of Yeni. This series also stars Marcela Guirado, Leticia Calderón, Minnie West, Emmanuel Orenday, Luis Ernesto Franco, Alejandro de la Madrid, Camila Selser, Manuel Balbi, Fernanda Borches, Cecilia Toussaint, Omar Germenos, Giovanni Conconi and Miguel López Loredo as the main cast, alongside other cast members. The total number of episodes is still not confirmed but the first season of The Surrogacy will be streaming on Netflix from June 14, 2023. Coming back to The Surrogacy storyline, a Mexican couple from a moneyed family is looking to have a child, and they can only have a child through surrogacy. Enter our female protagonist, who has been looking for an out, and this arrangement will provide her with same. While everything goes extremely well in the beginning, and she even falls in love with someone in the family, the whole thing ends terribly when one of the babies is born with a disability. Sensing tension and some more conflict, the well-off family banishes the girl with her child, and she is found stranded alone.
It is then revealed that she had two kids because the embryo split into two. They kept the girl child, and she was left with the boy, fending for herself while there was no one to support her and remember the attackers from the beginning of the video? Well, they are back trying to get even more out of this woman when she has already proven herself to be a threat. The series has highly intense drama to watch and enjoy. All of these series employ social differences and dramatic irony in order to get the point across. Series like this also try to highlight societal inequalities and violence with comparison to privilege, which keeps the genre of drama alive.
