Bihar: Muslim girl is the first from the community to become DSP in Bihar Police Force

Razai Sultan said, "I am very excited to serve as a police officer. There are many a time when people do not get justice, especially women. I will try to ensure that cases are reported, justice is prevailed."

27-year-old Razia Sultan from Bihar has created a history by becoming the first Muslim girl to become DSP in the Bihar Police force. She has cleared the 64th Bihar Public Service Commission Exams.

Razia Sultan, among 40 other candidates has been selected for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Bihar Police.

In an interview with a media channel, Razai said that she always wanted to appear in the public service commission exams. It was a dream come true when she was selected as DCP. 

She said, “I am very excited to serve as a police officer. There are many a time when people do not get justice, especially women. Women shy away from reporting to the police any incident of crime against them. I will try to ensure that such cases are reported.”

During the interview, she also appealed to the parent of the girl child, especially from the Muslim community to support the education of the child and allow her to fulfil her dreams.

When asked about wearing hijab or burqa during duty or in school and colleges, she said wearing hijab or burqa cannot be a deterrent for girls who want to go to school or colleges.

Razia Sultan said, “Wearing a burqa or hijab is not a restriction. If we think we can do any work then Allah gives us the power to overcome all kinds of hurdles.”

Razia has recently recovered from Covid-19 and asked people not to believe the rumours related to vaccination and should go to take vaccination to save lives.

Presently, Razia is working as an assistant engineer in the electricity department of the Bihar government. 

Razai Sultan belongs to Hathua in the Gopalganj district of Bihar, she has completed her education from Bokaro Jharkhand because his father Md Aslam was posted as a stenographer at Bokaro steel plant. Her father passed away in 2016, her mother still lives in Bokaro.

After, completing her schooling in Bokaro, she went to Jodhpur to earn a degree in B.Tech in electrical engineering.

Razai is the youngest among seven siblings. All her elder sisters are married and her brother is working at a private company in Jhansi after completing his MBA.
