Despite thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in multiple districts of Punjab last week, the state has started to witness scorching heat yet again. While there is a slight relief in high temperatures after the rainfall on Saturday last week, the temperature in multiple districts of Punjab is still touching 40°C. For instance, Samrala on May 27 registered a whopping 40.6°C. In the meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh made fresh rainfall predictions in the state and put multiple districts on orange and yellow alert. - May 29, 2025- Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Rupnagar, Nawanshahar, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Barnala, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot
- May 30, 2025- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangru, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Rupnagar

Notably, IMD has been predicting for the past many days that multiple districts of Punjab will witness rainfall. However, after Saturday's thunderstorm, the state is not witnessing rainfall.

As per IMD's daily weather forecast briefing, Samrala was the hottest region in Punjab on May 27 at 40.6°C. Amritsar- 39.2°C, Ludhiana- 39°C, Patiala- 38°C, Pathankot- 36.8°C, Bathinda- 38°C, Faridkot- 39.5°C, etc.
