Kangana Ranaut launched the trailer of her latest produced movie Tiku weds Sheru. The trailer was released on June 14, 2023. Sai Kabir has directed the film under the banner of Manikarnika Films. Tiku Weds Sheru is all set to be released on June 23 on Amazon Prime Video. The film revolves around the love story of two survivors who in spite of overwhelming odds have the excitement to live life to the fullest.
The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur in leading roles. At the trailer launch event, Kangana Ranaut revealed that the film was initially called Divine Lovers and was to be launched in 2016. The film's original cast was she herself with late veteran actor Irrfan Khan and the director Sai Kabir. The film got stalled because Sai Kabir got severely ill for three to four years. Later when the filmmaker decided to work on the script again the movie again got stalled due to the sudden demise of Irrfan Khan in April 2020. The actor added that it really demotivated her.
Kangana stated that when she was looking to cast Nawazuddin in the lead role, she was told that he would not sign any film for the next five years. When she talked to him, Nawazuddin said that he was in Banglore and asked her to come if she wanted to meet. Kangana reached Banglore and impressed Nawazuddin who signed for the film even before reading the script.
Avneet Kaur makes her Bollywood debut with the film. When the film’s cast was announced many people were against for casting Avneet Kour due to the age gap. Even today, after the launch of the trailer, the debate has started once again. The movie shows Tiku and Sheri, opposite poles get married. Tiku views her marriage as a chance to move to Mumbai to fulfill her dream of becoming an actor. Wheras, Sheru is a farmer who has been working hard his entire life on the fields. The film is full of drama and much more. The movie is all about romace with bits of humour.
