A meeting is to be held today after the resignation of Tirath Singh Rawat so that BJP may decide the new chief minister for the state. The legislative party is expected to meet at 3 pm said the unit’s president, Madan Kaushik. The observer of the gathering is going to be Narendra Singh Tomar.

“The new leader will be an MLA,” Kaushik said. Manveer Singh Chauhan, the state BJP media in charge said,” All party MLAs have been asked to attend the meeting.”

As per the record, Tirath Singh Rawat is the only chief minister who resigned just after 4 months which is considered to be the shortest period in the office as Uttarakhand’s CM. He took over as a CM on March 10 resigned this Friday. In 2019, Rawat was elected to the Lok Sabha from Garhwal and was appointed as the ninth CM of Uttarakhand after Trivendra Singh Rawat.

This decision was taken by him only after meeting the BJP central leadership, including Union home minister Amit Shah and party Chief JP Nadda. His resignation comes before the conduction of the Uttarakhand assembly elections which are scheduled to be held in early 2022.

After a few hours of addressing a press conference in Uttarakhand, he submitted his resignation letter at night to Baby Rani Maurya who is the Governor.

He supported his decision by saying that this step was necessary for the "constitutional crisis" in the state. “I must express my gratitude to the party’s central leadership which has given many responsibilities from time to time. I have been MLC, MLA, MP, party state president, and recently chief minister,” he stated after submitting his resignation. "I thank my party president JP Nadda, home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the core of my heart,” he further added.

A controversy is created as the senior BJP officer gave a hint that the step of resigning was taken because the bypoll couldn’t be held due to the present COVID situation.

As per the laws, it is said that considering the post a by-election needs to be conducted within six months either by a CM or by a member of the assembly. However, no such decision was made and it is observed that a suggestion is made of conducting precedents that may permit the same.

During his presence in the state capital of Dehradun a lot of other events have also caused many controversies such as the decision of allowing the conduction of the Mahakumbh even when the COVID-19 was on peak, and how can anyone forget about the fraud in testing which was held at a large scale that also during a holy event!

Besides that, his comments on women’s clothing and that the Ganga’s water could cause the prevention of infections are some causes of hatred.

Tirath Singh Rawat resigned from the top job post due to the hidden conflicts in the state unit. The BJP now has 56 MLAs in the 70-member house.
